I dedicate this song to the memory of my dear departed friend Richard Dorsett, who, among his many other generous acts, encouraged and supported my musical endeavors for so many years. Richard liked this song and urged me to include it on the record, which I'm so glad I did.
lyrics
I'm leaving this town, I'm not hanging around
I've got places to be, and people to see
I'm not trying to drag you down
I'm claiming myself from the lost and found
Somewhere out there is the new me
If I stay here I can't be free
Chorus:
I'm sick of the lovers, backstabbers and fighters
Offbrand cigarettes and Chinese lighters
And all I can say is ah-a
I lost myself, I was someone else
Lived in a herd, seems so absurd
But I used to be like someone else
Found a crowd and lost myself
The loudest voice was the one I heard
Lived and died by charlatans' words
(chorus)
I arrived in one piece, a sheep to be fleeced
But so far I'm unshorn, maybe I'm reborn
The miles between us make me free
Anywhere your not is a place for me
Now I'm whole where I was torn
I'm taking names and you've been warned
It kinda figured you did it for the money
I tried so hard it wasn't even funny
(chorus)
